About
The Project
This club was created in 2017 by Emmaline, a high school student and GSNorcal Girl Scout.
The purpose of this club is to give young children a convenient opportunity to learn coding, create their own games, and hopefully develop an interest and passion in this field.
The club is meant for students with little to no experience with programming and/or Scratch, but might be interested in learning!
Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. See http://scratch.mit.edu.
The Club
The Scratch Coding Club meets at an elementary school once a week, for nine weeks, and 1.5 hours each time.
It is taught by high school volunteers who are experienced in coding. There is a teacher who supervises each club meeting.
Student applicants are selected through a lottery system.
